The gaming floor

Grey Rock Casino is not open 24/7. The gaming floor runs Sunday to Thursday from 10 AM to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 2:30 AM. Those late closings fall in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday. Hours are in Atlantic Time, and holiday hours should be checked on the venue's own site.

Table games here run on hybrid electronic tables, the Quartz Hybrid terminals. They carry five games: RouletteX, Stadium Blackjack, Baccarat, Stadium Three Card Poker and a Texas Hold'em game. The terminals keep the same hours as the gaming floor.

Totem Rewards has three tiers. Every $1 played on slot machines earns 1 point, and $10 on the hybrid tables earns 1 point.

Rules of entry

Grey Rock Casino is 19+. ID is checked for guests who appear to be 25 or under, and a valid government-issued photo ID is required.

The casino offers a Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program. Anyone enrolled who still attends forfeits all winnings while enrolled. The New Brunswick Gambling Information Line, 1-800-461-1234, is free, confidential and available 24/7. It also takes calls from people worried about someone else's gambling.

Food and drink

Valley View Restaurant is on the second floor of Grey Rock Casino. It is open every day from 4 PM to 10 PM and seats more than 150 people.

Fiddlehead Café + Lounge serves lunch and dinner Monday to Thursday 11:30 AM to 8 PM, and Friday 11:30 AM to 9 PM. On Saturday the kitchen runs 12 PM to 9 PM, and on Sunday 12 PM to 8 PM. The bar keeps later hours: Sunday to Wednesday 11 AM to midnight, Thursday to Saturday 11 AM to 2:30 AM. The café is named in honour of Maliseet history: fiddleheads adorned Maliseet canoes, wigwams and clothing long before any written record.

Staying over

An enclosed pedway joins Grey Rock Casino to the Quality Hotel, at 110 Chief Joanna Boulevard, phone 506-737-2000. Guests can walk between the hotel and the gaming floor without going outside. The hotel has 15 heated garages for visiting snowmobilers and direct access to ATV and snowmobile trails. Its room count is not published.

RV parking is allowed in a designated area of the casino lot. Reserving through Harvest Hosts is suggested, since those reservations get priority when the space fills up. For groups, Grey Rock's bus coordinators help organise day trips and overnight stays at partner hotels.

Nearby, the casino lists Mont Farlagne, a four-season outdoor recreation facility minutes from downtown Edmundston, and the Edmundston Golf Course.

The place

Grey Rock takes its name from the grey rocks on the mountains around the Grey Rock Power Center. A 40-foot totem pole portraying Glooscap and his spirit friends welcomes arrivals. The address is 100 Chief Joanna Blvd, E7C 0C1, on Madawaska Maliseet First Nation land, and the phone is (506) 735-2820. The casino's own pages give the town both as Saint-Basile and as Edmundston.

The casino opened on March 1, 2015. Grey Rock Entertainment Center Inc. (GREC) runs it for the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation (NBLGC) under an agreement signed in September 2014. GREC receives 80% of gross gaming revenue, and the NBLGC keeps 20%. A 10,000 sq ft event centre serves conferences, weddings and concerts, and the venue had 263,822 visitors in fiscal 2023-24.
